FIRES, a temporary exhibition at the City of Sciences and Industry
The abundance of mythical tales about fire is testimony to its importance in humanity's history. Drôle de Trame made 2 spectacular audiovisual installations for this exhibition at the City of Sciences:
«Fire's contributions» is a film shown on 7 screens. This device takes place in a circular scenography which evokes a gathering around the hearth. The film is made of animations circling and responding to each other between the screens. The graphical approach, in the shape of colored lines, allows a game of association of ideas, like a path unfolding. This film shows the importance of fire's tremendous contribution and incites us to take a fresh look at its place in our lives today.
«The choice of fire» is an installation consisting of a film projected on a big screen with light effects which highlight the 4 scale models placed in front of the screen. Made up of a large variety of archives and drawings, cut in multi-shots and animated, the film tells how the use of fire's driving power took us toward a «thermal-industrial» society.
